Hey There Everyone,
Well, I’ve been frittering around like a bumbling bumble bee from game to game and no games lately. But I have been increasingly enthralled with the magic that is the Yogs crew and their Minecraft videos. Now, I know that most of that magic comes from the charming personalities behind those pixelated visages, but I’ll be damned if Minecraft didn’t have me very intrigued.
Being the wonky bastard that I am, I have been trying to avoid Minecraft on principle because I don’t like to think of myself as a bandwagoner. I didn’t want to buy it just because I like the gentlemen at 1 Yog Tower. I didn’t want to buy it because it was popular and clearly had a magical addictive quality to it. I simply just wanted to prove to myself that I am my own person.
Unfortunately I am a failure and I must admit it to myself. I broke down after watching at least 5 hours worth of the yogs team Tekkit series’. I went and got myself Minecraft and found my way to Tekkit. What a great time! I just started on a single player server so I could get a handle on the basic mechanics before trying to fend for myself among a bunch of potential greifers.
I can see why the world of Minecraft is so perfectly suited to light impromptu adventure like those presented by the yogsmen (and ladies). I can see why crafting a fun story can work so well in this world of unlimited possibility. It is truly majestic to imagine your world and make it so. It is compelling to dig through the layers and figure out the best way to get what you need to complete your vision. The world is truly what you make it and that is a very satisfying way to spend your time.
On the other hand, after playing quite a serious amount of Tekkit I have taken a break. I have such limited time for gaming and now I get it, I’ve got it, and I can have more of it whenever I want, so my bee belly is satisfied with the haul. I’m ready to brave new adventures and find my voice in new worlds, but sure to return and find new exciting things in this wonderful space.
I’ve chronicled most of my adventures thus far in Tekkit and those will be going up on the youtube channel. Hopefully it is as fun to watch as it was to do.
For now, I’m working on Mists of Pandaria with footage coming out for that soon. I’ll also continue releasing the exciting adventures of the False Alarm crew as they travel galaxies in the pursuit of profit and justice… as they see it.
As you may have guessed, I’m moving in the direction of light hearted content for now, it is much more enjoyable for me to create and I think there is almost as much learning potential. Especially since I fail so often, we can’t help but learn together from my mistakes.
Stay Safe Out There,
~Aten
